Europa brought Richmond its first Tapas bar in 1998. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, Europa has just completed a major face lift. The décor is simple and sophisticated; the atmosphere is casual and modern. There is a new private dining room on the entry floor that can accommodate seated dinners for 30 guests. It is perfect for business meetings and intimate rehearsal dinners. The downstairs lounge and dining room also has all new furnishings and makes a perfect setting for larger private functions, corporate dinners, rehearsal dinners or cocktail parties. When not in use for private parties, Europa now serves full menu downstairs and offers a more intimate and romantic dining experience than the festive and open main dining area.
Most of the delicious Tapas that helped popularize Europa are still available on their menu. There are more than 25 tapas to choose from. House favorites like the seared rare tuna and stuffed piquillo peppers remain, while new additions like mozzarella stuffed meatballs and seared scallops keep things fresh. And vegetarians rejoice! There is an entire section of the menu dedicated to vegetarian selections. If you don’t want to dine tapas style, Europa still has something for you. The dinner menu focuses on Italian classics, with dishes like Eggplant parmesan, Veal Marsala, Pasta Gorgonzola and Lobster Fra Diavolo.
Don’t miss the weekly specials. Sunday night is tapas night with all tapas ½ off all night. Monday night is pasta night; all pastas are only $9.95. Cheap date night is Tuesday offering a 3 course dinner for $16 and featured wines for $16 a bottle. On Wednesday all bottles of Wine under $40 are ½ off with purchase of two entrees.
For happy hour Monday through Friday all tapas are ½ off from 5-7pm. There is live music on Thursday nights, and great dj’s on Friday and Saturday nights all starting at 10pm. Its extensive bar, with a wide selection of European and American wines and Sangria made in house complete an experience like none other.
Richmond's diners and critics seem to agree. Europa was voted "Best New Restaurant" in 1999 by Style Weekly and Richmond Magazine. Style Weekly calls it, "warm, pleasant sophistication...what a festive way for friends to share and celebrate!" Davis Morton, of Style Weekly wrote "Europa is filled with happy sounds of an amiable crowd and the fragrance of good food…seems to have found its niche!"
In 2009 Richmond Magazine voted Europa “Best Tapas Restaurant 2009”

This was not the first time we've been to Europa, but it will be our last for certain! We went to Europa for a friendly get together celebration, but after over 2 hours of waiting, we left hungry and irritated. We had to consistently ask the less-than-attentive server to provide us with drinks, bread, etc. and that was even before it got busy! It even took them almost 15 minutes before they could produce a manager that could talk with us about our situation...this is how we found out that after 2 hours of waiting, our dinners hadn't even been put in for preparation. To top this whole experience off, the manager was less than friendly/rude, which was quite a put-off. I know we will not return to Europa again. There are too many other good places in Richmond to waste our time eating at this establishment.

The worst dining experience ever. Poor service, rude managers and bad food. Definitely does not live up to its name.
